 Drive in Comfort

What more can a driver want?

Comfort

Solid control and laid back relaxation, speed and aplomb, strength and silence, the Renault Safrane evokes a rare matrix of emotions. Limpid tranquillity, thanks to the ergonomically designed driving position, grouping together efficiently all the functions necessary to ensure perfect peace of mind. An overwhelming sense of well-being distilled down from the comfort of the seats with their multiple range of adjustments, the sheer refinement and warmth of the materials and trim, the deep silence spreading throughout the car's interior. An unalloyed sense of pleasure due to the highly responsive range of engines, including the power packed 3 litre V6i. Last in our rare matrix of emotions, but by no means least, the feeling of absolute safety - a solid reality due to the vehicle's remarkable aerodynamics, perfect road holding and ABS braking system.

 Singularly stylish

THE INDEPENDENT DECISION

NOT THE OBVIOUS CHOICE - SIMPLY THE MOST REWARDING.

Many independent-minded motorists believe that, when buying a new car, the first and, perhaps, most obvious choice is often less satisfactory than the one which has been the subject of careful and objective consideration.

If you are one of these motorists, we suggest that the Renault Safrane merits a prominent place on your candidate list of executive motor cars.

The Safrane's spaciousness, its quietly assured air, its powerful yet refined performance and, above all, the value for money represented by its astonishingly complete specification, make it one of the most attractive contenders in its class. Indeed, when you have examined the Safrane in detail, you may conclude that it is, perhaps, the obvious choice after all.

 Safrane - singularly stylish

The Renault Safrane does not reply on exaggerated design and overstated detail to make its presence felt. Certainly, a quick glance at the car hints at the Safrane's dynamic on-road ability. But the hints are subtle. They include beautifully shaped, body-coloured bumpers and mirrors, a neat but purposeful rear spoiler, elegantly styled alloy wheels and (the most recent of a long list of refinements introduced on the latest models) a distinctive chrome grille. The Safrane also provides an immensely stylish driving environment, the result of intelligent design, meticulous engineering and the skilled use of first class materials. The cabin - airy, intelligently planned and redolent with the aroma of leather upholstery - illustrates the point perfectly. Today's Safrane not only has style, there is real substance behind it.

 Safrane - unusually well equipped.

The Renault Safrane bears witness to our belief that safety measures such as ABS braking, twin airbags and front lateral airbags, as well as a full range of security equipment, should be provided as a matter of course on any executive motor car.

Each model also provides automatic air conditioning, and supple Bridge of Weir 'Cordoba' leather upholstery as standard.
The limited edition Questor model is equipped with a full screen, satellite controlled Philips Carin navigation system and its specification is rounded off by a Comfort pack* comprising electrically adjusted and heated front seats, and door mirrors which automatically adjust to provide a 'back-up' view when reverse gear is engaged.

If you agree with Renault engineers that an executive car should soothe the stresses of high office, we think you will find ownership of the Renault Safrane a thoroughly rewarding experience.
This pack is available optionally with the Executive 2.5 20V Auto.

 Safrane - uncommonly capable

An executive car is not a sports car. Nevertheless, safety, efficiency and, not least, driving pleasure demand that its performance should never be less than, let us say, authoritative.
The Safrane offers two engines which more than satisfy that requirement. The first is a 2.0 litre, 16-valve unit which delivers 138 bhp and 0 to 62-mph time of just 10.5 seconds. The second is a superb 2.5 litre, 20 valve, 168 bhp, five-cylinder power plant which produces performance of an even higher order.
A 4-speed automatic gearbox, incorporating a 'Sports' mode, is supplied as standard with the 2.5 litre engine and is also available with the 2.0 litre unit.

It need hardly be added that both these engines deliver their considerable performance in an appropriately smooth and unruffled manner.

 Safrane - exceptionally well protected

Powerful ABS braking, precise steering and taut handling allow the Safrane to avoid potentially hazardous situations on the motorway or high street.

The Safrane's formidable array of passive safety measures include an immensely strong body-shell, side protection bars, anti-submarine rear seats, twin airbags, and inertia reel seats for all occupants. The front seat belts offer the added protection of Renault System for Restraint and Protection (SRP) and pretensioners. In addition, both Executive and Questor Limited Edition models are equipped with front lateral airbags.

The Safrane is equally well protected when it is parked in your drive or in the multi-storey car park… by a Thatcham approved alarm and transponder-controlled engine immobiliser system, by anti-drill door locks and by VIN window etching.

All of which supplies further evidence that here is one executive car designed with a clear-eyed appreciation of the realities of motoring in the late '90s.
